Columbus "Chris" Franklin Powers

March 1, 1934 ~ July 29, 2017 (age 83) 83 Years Old

Mr. Columbus Franklin "Chris" Powers, 83 of Valdosta passed away Saturday, July 29, 2017 at Lakehaven Nursing Home.  Mr. Powers was born March 1, 1934 in Adel to the late Western Columbus Powers and Toye Ethel Weeks Powers. He was a kind man with a big personality and even bigger smile.  He loved the Lord, his family, dogs, coffee, western TV shows and baseball.  Through the years, Mr. Powers held jobs as a carpenter, bus driver, truck driver and heavy equipment operator.  However, it is in his role as a pastor that he touched the most lives and led many hearts to our Lord.   

Survivors include his two sons, Sonny (Carolyn) Powers and Roger (Karen) Powers; seven grandchildren, Christopher Powers (Allen Murphy), D. Cherise (Rafael) Charris, Kerri (Chris) Vintson, Joshua (Amy) Powers, Jessica (Preston) Watts, Shawn Powers, and Stephanie Harmon; 12 great grandchildren, Gabriel (Rachael) Charris, Christian Charris, Statyn Vintson, Tiffany (Chris) Pugh, Clay Vintson, Wyatt Powers, Adaley Powers, Lilianna Watts, Maelen Watts, Toni Harmon, Roger Miller, and C J Couch; six great great grandchildren, Molli Charris, Carter Pugh, Andrew Pugh, B J Armstrong, Tristan Armstrong, and Avery Miller; three sisters,  Eva Nell (Sherwood) King, Margaret Flowers, and Jean Lewis; many other family and friends. Mr. Powers was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Cora Lee Barry Powers; brother, Carlton Powers; sisters, Essie Mae Tucker, and Hilda Holton; daughter, Susan McPherson, and several of Heaven's littlest angels.

A memorial service will be held Sunday, September 3, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at Purvis Funeral Home with Mr. Power's granddaughter, D. Cherise Charris officiating.
