Mrs. Betty Marie Harrell, 87 of Quitman passed away Tuesday, June 25, 2019 at her daughter's residence in Macon, GA. Mrs Harrell was born April 10, 1932 to the late Guy & Louise Carroll Priester. She worked as the administrative assistant with Brooks County Sheriff Department before she retired and also volunteered at the voting precinct in Brooks County. Mrs. Harrell was a member of Quitman First Baptist Church where she was a active member of the church choir and also taught the children's Sunday School Class at Dixie Baptist Church. She loved to sew, quilt, cook and loved her garden.
Survivors include her daughters, Carolyn Henderson of Quitman, Elinor (George) Nottingham of Macon, and Martha Fennell of Macon; grandchildren, Travis Simmons of Valdosta, Luke Simmons of Athens, Natalie (Jeff) Hart of Quitman, Mary Beth Nottingham of Virginia, Kathryn Marie Nottingham of Macon, and Michael Allen Nottingham of Macon; great grandchildren, Brianna Morgan Simmons of Athens, and Matthew Tyreil of Virginia; one brother, Guy (Bess) Priester, Jr of Snellville, GA; several nieces & nephews; and sister in law, Joan Johnson of Quitman. Mrs. Harrell was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Paul Harrell.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, June 30, 2019 at 3:00 p.m. at Quitman First Baptist Church with Rev. Steve Shierling officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends Sunday afternoon at 2:00 p.m, one hour prior to the service at the church.
