Mr. Reese Gilmer, the youngest and only surviving child of Charles Ernest Gilmer and Mary Elizabeth Ward Gilmer passed away peacefully in Vero Beach, Fl. Reese was born on the family farm in Boston, Ga, and graduated from Barwick High School in 1949. In 1950 he enlisted in the United States Army and proudly served in the Korean War. Reese married Elizabeth P. Yarbrough in 1952 but sadly she passed away on May 5, 2019.
Survivors include his two sons, Ernest (Kathy) Gilmer, Jr of Bonney Lake, WA, and Thomas W. Gilmer of Vero Beach, Fl; grandchildren, Jeffery Maxwell, Jessica Richardson, and Frances Wooge; six greatchildren; and many loving family members & friends.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 27, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at Ozelle Methodist Church with Rev. Roy Little officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Church Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends one hour prior to the service at the church. in lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to VNA & Hospice Foundation at VNATC.com.
