Guy "Sonny" Hartwell McGuffee

Mr. Guy Hartwell McGuffee, also known as Sonny Burris, 81 of Quitman passed away Friday, May 31, 2019 at his residence.  Mr. McGuffee was born January 16, 1938 to Guy Hartwell, Sr & Nell Katherine Burris.  He had lived in Brooks County since 1970 and served in the United States Air Force.  Mr. McGuffee lived a very interesting life having been a jockey, a ferrier and a Champion Saddle Bronc Rider. 

Survivors include his children, Judy (Harold) Bell of Jacksonville, Fl, Katherine (Eric) Nichols of White Oak, Ga. Mike McGuffee of Quitman, Mark McGuffee of Quitman, and Matt (Wendee) McGuffee of Villa Rica, GA; seven grandchildren; five great grandchildren.  Mr. McGuffee was preceded in death by his wife, Mary R. McGuffee.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, June 8, 2019 at 4:00 p.m. at J2 Arena, 125 Roberts Rd., Quitman, GA  with Mr. Buddy Johnson officiating.
