Harris "H. L." Lee Crumley

Harris Lee Crumley "H. L.", 89, the son of Benjamin and Rosie Harris Crumley was born January 8, 1931 in Eldorado, GA.  On January 13, 2020 he released the bonds of Alzheimers and transisted to his new home in heaven.  

Funeral services will be held Thursday at 3:00 p.m. at UGCLife Church in Eldorado with Rev. Joe Crumley, Rev. Tommy Dorman, and Rev. Todd Garner officiating. Zach Crumley will be doing the eulogy.  Interment will follow in the church cemetery.  The family will be receiving friends Wednesday evening starting at 6:00 p.m at UGCLIfe Church.  

After marrying Florence Peele in 1949, they took off on an adventure lasting 70 years, visiting every corner of America.  His wife, Florence has been a loving caretaker throughout his illness. He never stopped listening for her voice and loving the many kisses she gave every day.

Mr. Crumley was employed by the Tifton Fire Department for 6 years and the Tifton Police Department for 10 years before finding his lifetime passion of Emergency Management.  He served 30 years as Tift Counties Civil Defense Director, creating many volunteer fire department's in Tift County.  He taught classes for managing emergency situations and much more.  Mr. Crumley served as president of the Georgia Association of EMA Directors.  His proudest accomplishment being the drafting, lobbying and final vote to create a retirement system for volunteer community fire fighters of Georgia.

Mr. Crumley is survived by his wife, Florence Peele Crumley of Eldorado; children, Sheryl (Roger) Blanchett of Alapaha, Danny (Sue) Crumley of Eldorado, Billy (Theresa) Crumley of Valdosta, and Joe (Tanice) Crumley of Eldorado; grandchildren, Robin (H. R.) Crumley, Rosanne (John) Blanchett Lewis, Chad (Crystal) Blanchett, Karla Crumley Erskine, Jay (Dawn) Blanchett, Mandy (Burt) Ponder, Brittney (Jason) Tomberlin, Zach (Marie) Crumley, and Ben (Trista) Crumley; 20 great grandchildren; sister, Mildred Crumley Gibbs of Brookfield; brother, Ferris Gene Crumley of Athens, GA; two sister in laws, Martha Peele Grosselle, and Wilda Peele Dorman; brother in law, Tommy Dorman.  Mr. Crumley was preceded in death by his grandson, Bradley Crumley.   His many guardian angels from Southern Care Hospice Service in Moultrie, Tish Cook, Alisha Cox, Laura Haturem, Sabrina Griffin, Kim Blackstock, and Jennifer Brown.  Rescare Home service of Tifton for their many caregivers. Serving as active pallbearers are H. R. Crumley, John Lewis, Bert Ponder, Chad Blanchett, Jay Blanchett, Blayne Erskine, Zach Crumley, and Ben Crumley.  Numerous friends will serve as honorary pallbearers. Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to Southern Care Hospice Service in Moultrie.
