Kirk Gordon

Mr. Kirk Gordon, 64 of Adel passed away Monday, August 6, 2018 at his residence.  Mr. Gordon was born March 7, 1954 in Adel and was a member of the First Assembly of God Church.  He served 30 years in the law enforcement and served his community faithfully.  Mr. Gordon retired as Chief of Police in Adel and was beloved as “Chief.”  After retirement he worked with Purvis Funeral Home as a staff member.

Survivors include his wife, Janet Bowman Gordon of Adel; son, Eric (Paige) Gordon of Adel; daughter, Jennifer (Brad) Smith of Adel; grandchildren, Jaylen Gordon, and Parker Smith; mother, Barbara Gordon of Adel; one brother, Dennis (Patricia) Gordon of Adel; several nieces & nephews.  Mr. Gordon was preceded in death by his father, Dennis Herman Gordon.  

Funeral services will be held Thursday, August 9, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at the First Assembly of God Church with Rev. Eric Gordon and Rev. Caryl Martinez officiating.  Interment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery Annex.  The family will be receiving friends Wednesday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Purvis Funeral Home.  Serving as active pallbearers will be Joey Schramm, Steve Schramm, Duane Dickerson, Gary Cooksey, Duane Tillman, and Doug Hanks.  Honorary pallbearers will be the past and present law enforcement, Gerald Griffin, Jerry Pilcher, and Jack West.
