Mr. Lamar Ferguson, 93 of Moultrie passed away Wednesday, January 9, 2019 at the Legacy Village at Park Regency in Moultrie. Mr. Ferguson was born June 7, 1925 to the late Rufus Ferguson & Mary Lee Campbell Ferguson. He served in the United States Army during World War II and was a member of Salem Baptist Church in Pavo. He attended Moultrie Church of God during his last years. Mr. Ferguson was a farmer for many years and was Colquitt Co. Farmer of the Year before becoming a USDA Inspector. He was also a beekeeper for 25 years and owner of Moultrie Mobile Home for 12 years. Mr. Ferguson lived on the Withlacoochee River for over 30 years, where he loved to fish and he enjoyed meeting people and listening to gospel music.
Survivors include his children, Robert Ferguson of Moultrie, Gerald (Brenda) Ferguson of Astell Springs, TN, Jerry (Debbie) Ferguson of Moultrie, Bobby Ferguson of Moultrie, and Gayle Whitehead of Tallahasee, Fl.; 12 grandchildren and several great grandchildren. Mr. Ferguson was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby Collier Ferguson; son, Willis Ferguson; granddaughter, Camille Ferguson; grandson, Kyle Ferguson; brothers, James Ferguson, Walter "Bo" Ferguson, and Thomas Ferguson; daughter in law, Judy Ferguson.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 12, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at Salem Baptist Church with Rev. Wayne Goff, Rev. James Sellers, and Rev. Ricky McLaughlin officiating. Interment will follow at Midway Cemetery in Moultrie. The family will be receiving friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Serving as active pallbearers will be Jordon Jones, Billy Hart, Joe Camp, Brian Ferguson, Bryan Ferguson, and Anthony Ferguson. Honorary pallbearers will be the Senior Adult Men's Sunday School Class.
