Louise Walden Obituary

Mrs. Louise Walden, 80 of Quitman passed away Friday, July 12, 2019 at her residence. Mrs. Walden was born April 2, 1939 to the late Carroll Lee Martin & Dell Bullock Martin. She was the wife of Hilman Walden for 60 years, a mother for 56 years, a Christian for 59 years, and a librarian for 32 years. How she loved and enjoyed the world of the library, the children, the friends, and the work! She just loved it all. Mrs. Walden was a grandmother for 25 years and a great grandmother for 8 years. She enjoyed the world of the Flower Shop, being a floral designer out in Texas, in Columbus, and here at Blanches Flower Shop in Quitman. God gave her two careers, and she was blessed by both of them.

Mrs. Walden was a member of the Quitman First Baptist Church where she was a active member and taught Sunday School for 50 years and was also a member of WMU. She deeply loved her husband, her children, all in -laws and out-laws, grandchildren, great grandchildren, her home, Sunday School class and Church. She asked God to save her when she was 22 years old, after resisting for several years!

Mrs. Walden always enjoyed entertaining, having friends and family over, and gardening. She often said that when she got to Heaven, the Lord will hand her a rake and say, “Go to it, Girl!” Mrs. Walden enjoyed friends, the library, reading and writing, traveling, and meeting new people. She enjoyed her family, husband, children, grandchildren, and a little dog named Miss B.

Mrs. Walden grew up in the Hickory Head/Grooverville area, went to school at Dixie School in Dixie, Ga and Business School in Valdosta. She married a Quitman High School Football Star in 1958, and they traveled the world together for over 25 years. Military life was the life for them!! They moved 29 times, had 25 different homes and saw many faraway places. Two tours in Vietnam and one in Korea made togetherness sweeter and dearer. They always had a happy home wherever they were. It was not all easy, life challenged them, and made them fit for the next assignment. They always had a happy home. They still said to each other, “I love you” often. God was always with them and they depended on him. They worshipped God in their home and in many churches and he blessed them beyond belief—beyond measure.

Survivors include her husband, Hilman Walden, Jr of Quitman; children, Chip (Heather) Walden of Bainbridge, and Teresa (Keith) Middleton of Valdosta; grandchildren, Will Rozier of Valdosta, Alex Walden of Valdosta, Emily Rozier of Valdosta, River Walden of Bainbridge, Laura (Daniel) Connell of Adel, Jaiden Belcher of Bainbridge, Keagan Belcher of Bainbridge, Karsyn Connell of Adel, and Lenton Claire Connell of Adel; brother, Forrest (Opal) Martin of Venice, Fl; nieces, Deborah Hylton of Atlanta, and Lori Martin King of Atlanta.
