Mr. Paul W. Addison died at the age of 92 years old on June 14, 2018.   After residing in Brooks County for 41 years, he spent his final three years in Jacksonville, Florida.

Paul is survived by his children, Valerie Sutton of St. Augustine, FL; his son, Zachary Addison, of Jacksonville, FL; his foster son, Greg Sadler of Enigma, GA; by 8 grandchildren, Heather, Meagan, Craig, Chris, David, Melissa, Julie and Pam; by many great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; and by his sisters, Geneva Dollar and Eula Kelly.  He is predeceased by: his wife, Era Addison; four daughters, Lonie Addison, Elsie Robinson, Lizzie Kennedy, and Kathy Liebenstein; and by his siblings, Silas Addison, Bronnie Pate, Dale Brown, and Ynez Mock.

Paul was born in Colquitt, Georgia on November 3, 1925, to parents William and Ethel Addison.  After growing up as a sharecropper, he moved to central Florida, and then to Brooks County, Georgia.  Paul married Era in 1961 in Lakeland, Florida.  They moved to Brooks County, GA in 1974, where they raised Valerie and Zachary on their farm near Jamar Subdivision.  For the last few years before he retired for the third time, Paul worked as a WalMart greeter in Valdosta.

Paul loved to work outdoors and to nurture children.  In the 1980’s, he and Era became foster parents.  They welcomed over 20 children in need of loving parents into their home.  When Valerie and Zachary moved away, Paul and Era transferred their church membership from First Church of the Nazarene in Valdosta, to the Quitman Church of the Nazarene, where Paul served as treasurer for many years.
