Mr. Russell Eugene Stripling, Sr., 81 of Adel passed away Sunday at his residence.  Mr. Stripling was born November 4, 1935 to the late G. W. & Gwendolyn Godfrey Stripling   He served in the United States Army and worked for many years with 1st Franklin Finance Co.  Mr. Stripling was a member of Westside Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Virginia Lucille Register Stripling of Adel; son, Russell (Danielle) Stripling, Jr. of Adel; daughter, Debbie Stripling Lindsey of Lenox; grandchildren, Wilson Lindsey, Tyler Lindsey, and Jade Davis; great grandchildren, Bella Lindsey, Paisley Lindsey, and Nora Lindsey; brother, Dwain (Carolyn) Stripling of Adel; and one sister, Shirley Adams of Newton, GA.  Mr. Stripling was preceded in death by one daughter, Penny Ellerbe; and one grandson, Brian Ellerbe.  

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, June 13, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Westside Baptist Church with Rev. Scotty Mathis officiating.  Interment will follow at Springhead Baptist Church Cemetery.  The family will be receiving friends Monday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Purvis Funeral Home.
