Samuel "Zack" Martin

Mr. Samuel "Zack" Martin, 81 of Barwick passed away Thursday, January 9, 2020 at Archbold Medical Center.  Mr. Martin was born May 19, 1938 and was a farmer before becoming a probation officer in Thomasville before he retired.  He was a member of Barwick Baptist Church and a pillar of the Barwick Community.  He was a man of many stories and was known to many people, especially his grandchildren as "Daddy Zack." He loved to watch the GA Bulldogs and the Atlanta Braves.

Survivors include his children, Sam (Alex) Martin of Barwick, Jill (Brian) Higgins of Thomasville, David (Debbie) Gillette of Tallahassee, Laura (Tom) Ackerman of Quitman, Tommy (Debra) Gillette of Boston, and Amy (Jack) Krystyn of Dothan, Al.; grandchildren, Zack Martin, Luke Martin, Cole Higgins, and many more; several great grandchildren; and one sister, Kara Goodson of Thomson, GA.  Mr. Martin was preceded in death by his wife, Judy Martin; brother, David Martin, and sister, Linda Petrey.

Graveside services will be held Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at Rosewood Cemetery.  The family will be receiving friends one hour prior to the service at Barwick Baptist Church.
