Turner Johnson Obituary

Mr. Turner Johnson, 93 of Quitman passed away Saturday, September 14, 2019 at the Presbyterian Home Quitman.  He was born April 16, 1926 to the late David Daniel Johnson & Magdalene Virginia Nicks Johnson.  Mr. Johnson served in the United States Army Air Corp as a mechanic on the Enola Gay during WWII.  He received the Victory Medal, American Theater Ribbon, and the Good Conduct Medal.  Mr. Johnson was a member of Hickory Head Baptist Church.

Survivors include his children, Janet (Dennis) Hale of Athens, Marsha (Michael) Burgess of Watkinsville, GA, and Diane (Kenny) Harrell of Greenville, AL; ten grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; and several nieces & nephews.  Mr. Johnson was preceded in death by two brothers, Wilson Johnson, and Charles "C. W." Johnson; and two sisters, Ada Lee Coffee, and Virginia Mitchell.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 18 2019 at 2:00 P M at Northside Baptist Church with Rev. Larry Harris officiating.  Interment will follow at Oak Hill cemetery with the VVA Chapter # 1090 of Adel will be providing military rites.  The family will be receiving friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
