Barbara Watson

Mrs. Barbara Watson, 95 of Valdosta passed away Friday, April 30, 2021 at Fellowship Home. Mrs. Watson was born June 13, 1925 in Quitman to the late Frank Monroe Shiver and Mary Frances Ferrell Shiver. She retired from Moody Air Force Base working in the Logistics & Supply Dept. Mrs. Watson was a member of Morven Baptist Church and was a Sunday School Teacher at the church for many years.

Survivors include her son, James B. (Gladys) Smith, Jr of Morven; grandson, James B. (April) Smith, III of Morven; three great grandchildren, Logan Smith, Galon Smith, and Jaxon Smith. Mrs. Watson was preceded in death by her husband, Leland Dozier Watson, and previous husband, James Buford Smith; brother, Edwin Shiver; and sisters, Cecelia Cooper, Verlin Williams, and Virginia Shiver.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 8, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at Morven Baptist Church with Rev. Jim Pitt officiating. Interment will follow at Campground Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends Friday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Maxwell - Purvis Funeral Home. The family request that everyone wear a mask and observe the social distancing.
