Carolyn Powers Obituary

Mrs. Carolyn Susan Powers, 67 of Greensboro, Alabama, entered peacefully into eternal rest on October 10, 2020 at her residence surrounded by many loved ones.

The eldest daughter of the late Hubert William Fulghum and Susie Mae Spradlin of Adel, Carolyn graduated from Cook County High School in 1971 and married the love of her life, Sonny the same year. Carolyn relocated in support of Sonny's military service before they settled with their three children in Greensboro, AL.

Carolyn loved her dog, "Sami", playing the piano, pink roses, chocolate ice cream, lap blankets, country music, Alabama football, trips to pretty much anywhere and the Lord and family above all. She worked as an administrative assistant for the Alabama State Trooper post in Tuscaloosa, retiring in 2015. Over the years, Carolyn also held the position of pianist for Pineview Assembly of God in Marion, AL and several gospel groups, participating in ministries at various churches, nursing homes and the local prison. Carolyn loved her family and friends fiercely and was often referred to as "spunky" or "sassy." She had a sweet smile and an even sweeter heart, and her light will shine on in the hearts of those who love her.

She is preceded in death by her father, Hubert Fulghum, and five angel grandbabies, Caden, Cara, Brennan, Eden, and Mariella Charris. Carolyn is survived by her husband, Sonny Powers of Greensboro; son, Christophe Powers (Allen Murphy) of Lawrenceville, GA; daughters, Cherise (Rafael) Charris of Boaz, AL, and Kerri (Chris) Vintson of Brilliant, AL; grandchildren, Statyn Vintson, Christian Charris, Clay Vintson, Tiffany (Chris) Pugh and Gabriel (Rachael) Charris; great grandchildren, Carter Pugh, Andrew Pugh, and Molli Charris; mother, Susie (Robert) Spradlin of Valdosta; sister, Marilyn Pena of New Braunfels, TX; brothers, Homer Fulghum of Kansas City, KS, and Scottie (Alisa) Fulghum of Royse City, TX and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, Cousins, and friends.
