Dessie Bennett Obituary

Mrs. Dessie Mae Bennett, 82 of Vanceville passed away Wednesday, June 2, 2021 at her residence. Mrs. Bennett was born March 23, 1939 to the late Sherman & Odesa Goddard Parker. She was a faithful member of New River Holiness Church and loved her family dearly. Mrs. Bennett enjoyed cooking  and everyone loved her apple turnovers.

Survivors include her husband, Henry "Cedar" Bennett of Vanceville; daughters, Linda (Hody) Rutland of Lenox, Marilyn (Randy) Cannady of West Berrien, Regina (David) Robinson of Vanceville; daughter in law, Kathy Bennett of West Berrien; grandchildren, Benjie Rutland, Reggie Rutland, Terri Rutland, Michael Cannady, Allen Bennett, Brandy Delaney, and Chris Jackson; 15 great grandchildren; 7 great great grandchildren; several nieces & nephews; and special church family. Mrs. Bennett was preceded in death by her son, Henry "Sonny Boy" Bennett; great grandchild, Keegan Caves; brothers, Sherman Parker, Jr, and Harley Parker; and two sisters, Aline Parker, and Lois Holt.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 5, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at New River Holiness Church with Bro. Nick Hensley, and Bro. Charles Connell. Interment will follow at the church cemetery. The family will be receiving friends Friday evening from 6-8 p.m.at Purvis Funeral Home. Serving as active pallbearers are Benjie Rutland, Allen Bennett, Chris Jackson, Clay Connell, Alex Delaney, and Dion Hale.
