Doug Ratts, 60, of Adel passed away Friday, January 21, 2022, at his residence. Doug was born March 14, 1961, in Martinsville, Indiana. He was a devoted member and deacon of New Life Baptist Church. Doug worked as the Finance & Insurance Manager at Cook County Ford for many years. He was a licensed airplane pilot and enjoyed singing and playing the piano and guitar. Doug, one of the sweetest men ever met, was an encourager and a very humble man who dearly loved his family and church family.
Survivors include his wife, Becky Ratts of Adel; children, Mandy (Patrick) Ward of Adel, Katie (Joe) Eunice of Adel, and Brandon Ratts of Adel; grandchildren, Matthew Eunice stationed at Great Lakes Naval Base, Great Lakes, Illinois, Rebecca Ward of Adel, Aaron Eunice of Adel, and Andrew Eunice of Adel; father and mother, Kenneth and Julie Ratts of Adel; brother, Kevin (Tina) Sapp of Fitzgerald; sisters, Ginny (Tracy) Herring of Adel, and Shelly (Chad) Lott of Douglas; and brother-in-law, Rick (Debbie) Finney of Paragon, Indiana; nieces and nephews, Matt (Mary) Finney, Kyndall Herring, and Caleb, Ella, Emma, and Brody Lott. Doug was preceded in death by his mother, Melvinia Huff Ratts.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 26, 2022, at 4:00 p.m. at New Life Baptist Church with Rev. Chad Payne and Bro. Drew Yates, Minister to Students & Families, officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will be receiving friends Wednesday afternoon from 2:00-4:00 p.m. at New Life Baptist Church. Serving as pallbearers are Brandon Ratts, Patrick Ward, Joe Eunice, Tracy Herring, Kevin Sapp, Matthew Eunice, Aaron Eunice, and Andrew Eunice. Serving as honorary pallbearers are the New Life Baptist Church deacons and members of the 50’s and 60's Sunday School Class.
