Gene Gandy

Mr. Gene Gandy, 86 of Sparks passed away Monday, August 31, 2020 from heart failure at South Georgia Medical Center. Mr. Gandy was born November 25, 1933 to the late Johnnie & Bessie Blanchard Gandy. He served in the United States Navy and afterwards he worked for over 30 before retiring from ITT (Metal Products) and was a farmer for several years also. Mr. Gandy was a founding member of Lenox Christian Fellowship.

Survivors include his sons, Ricky Gandy of Sparks, and Tony (Crystal) Gandy of White Oak, GA; grandchildren, Jessica Gandy, Katie Gandy, and Emily Gandy (Kyle) Griffin; step grandchildren, Alaina Fulp, and Caleb Fulp; great grandchildren, Britain Harrison, Hadessah Gandy, Eli Gandy, and Allison Weeks, who Mr. Gandy claimed as his greatgrandchild also; and sister, Betty Lasseter of Sparks. Mr. Gandy was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Myrtle Mercer Gandy; brothers, Harvey Gandy, Leion Gandy, and Johnny Gandy; and one sister, Elizabeth Weeks.

Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2:00 p.m. at Lenox Christian Fellowship with Rev. Jimmie Hinson, and Rev. Charlene Griffin officiating. Interment will follow at Westview Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends Wednesday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Purvis Funeral Home.
