Iris Giddens Carnine, 77 of Adel passed away Sunday, August 23, 2020 after a long and courageous battle with alzheimers disease. She was a member of Massee Baptist Church and has been active in church since her childhood. Mrs. Carnine was born in Valdosta on December 8, 1942. She graduated from Cook High School in 1960 and continued her education to become a registered x-ray technician.
Mrs. Carnine was preceded in death by her parents, A. D. and Lucille Cowart, and one brother, Ken Cowart. Survivors include her husband of 50 years, Donald L. Carnine of Adel; son, Clint (Lori) Carnine of Adel; daughter, Stacy Carnine of Jacksonville; two grandsons, Hampton Carnine, and Harrison Carnine; and sister, Agnes Jones of Lawrenceville, GA
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. at Purvis Funeral Home with Rev. Bob Willis, and Rev. Phillip Badley officiating. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will be receiving friends Tuesday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Purvis Funeral Home.
