Jean Head

Mrs. Cynthia “Jean” Green Head, 69, of Oglethorpe, Georgia passed away, Thursday, December 22, 2022 at Phoebe Sumter Medical Center in Americus, GA. She was born November 30, 1953 in Quitman, Georgia to the late Luther D. Green and Gladys Francis King Green. Jean was the manager of Friedman’s Jewelers in Americus for many years.  Jean was also the manager at the Oglethorpe Senior Center in Oglethorpe, GA, before her retirement. Jean was a faithful member of New Life Baptist Church in Oglethorpe, Georgia.

Survivors include her loving husband, Harmon Head, Jr. of Oglethorpe, Georgia; a sister, Delores Bembry and husband Hiram of Tifton, Georgia; a brother, Larry Green and wife Deryl of Hahira, Georgia; two sisters-in-law, Sara “Chuck” Clark Oglethorpe, GA and Alicia P. Head of Andersonville, Georgia; four nephews and two nieces also survive. Jean was preceded in death by her step-son, Cory Allen Head. 

A graveside service will be held Thursday, January 5, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Oak Hill Cemetery in Quitman, Georgia with Rev. Tim Ferguson officiating. Maxwell - Purvis Funeral Home is in charge of local arrangements.
