Judy Williams Obituary

It is with sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved sister and aunt Judith "Judy" Williams in May 2020 from complications of a recent fall. She was born in 1937 in Columbus, Georgia and preceded in death by her husband of more than 60 years, Lieutenant Colonel Grady Williams and her parents Clyde and Tommie Massey.

Judy graduated from Baker High School. While living in Columbus, she met and married a handsome young officer, Grady Williams. As an Army wife, Judy traveled all over the world, living in various locations in Europe and throughout the United States.

Besides her devotion to her family, she enjoyed reading, collecting antiques and Indian artifacts, and playing tennis. Until her recent illness made it impossible, Judy was active in the life of the First Baptist Church. She loved her church family. All who loved her will never forget her independence, tenacity, and loyalty. She will be dearly missed and forever be in our hearts.

Judy passed away in her 83rd year. The family would like to thank the staff at the Fellowship Home at Brookside for their great care in the final three months of her life.

Judy is survived by her sister Pat Tanner and husband Jack of Quitman, Georgia, her brother Jeff Massey and wife Cheryl of Valdosta, Georgia. She was the beloved aunt to: Chip Tanner and wife Suzanne of Quitman, Joey Tanner of Valdosta, and Andrea Strom of Plymouth, Ohio; Her great nieces and great nephews are: Victoria Tanner of Quitman, Zoey Strom, Evan Strom, and Isak Strom of Pymouth.

A private graveside service will be held Tuesday at Oak Hill Cemetery for the immediate family. As an expression of sympathy, donations may be made to her church: First Baptist Church, 509 West Screven Street, Quitman, Georgia 31643.
