Kathryn Bass

Marion Kathryn Jarvis Bass gained her angel wings and rejoined her heavenly family on October 28, 2022 at the age of 80. Our loss is definitely Heaven's gain. She was born in Quitman, Georgia to parents Ola Lee and Marion Stroud Williams on August 15, 1942. 

Kathryn was a beautiful lady with a heart of gold. She dearly loved her friends and family. She was always a loving and dedicated mother.  She adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and loved her role as “Mema.”  Her effervescent personality made it easy for her to make friends everywhere she went. She had music in her soul and dancing was her favorite hobby.  She loved being near the ocean, so the beach was her happy place. As secretary for Lowndes High school for many years, she was known as the voice of LHS. The staff and students all loved her. She was a member of Francis Lake Baptist Church and enjoyed singing in the choir.

Kathryn was preceded in death by her infant son, Marion Paul Jarvis and her young daughter, Julie Kathryn Jarvis, whom we are certain greeted her with open arms at the gates of Heaven. 

Kathryn is survived by her sister Alice Faye (Andrew) Clark, son Eric (Joy) Jarvis; grandchildren, Jarrod (Bridgette) Jarvis, Jade (Ben) Walton, and Jacob (Shawnna) Jarvis; great-grandchildren: Kennedy Walton, Willow Jarvis, Drew Jarvis, Conner Walton, and Grant Jarvis.

Funeral services will be held Monday, October 31, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church Quitman with Bro. Eldridge Lyons officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends Sunday evening, October 30, 2022 from 6-8 p.m. at Maxell-Purvis Funeral Home in Quitman.
