Leon Purvis

Leon Elvin Purvis of Lenox, passed away in his home on May 13, 2020 at the age of 81.

Leon is survived by his daughters, Sandra and Steve Griffin of Tifton, Peggy Young of Tifton, and Lisa and Melvin Autry of Cleveland, Tennessee; son-in-law Steve Brock of Tazewell, Tennessee; his grandchildren, Jamie and Clay Connell, Andy and Deanna Griffin, Dawn and Gary Hollis, Ashley and Tim Stone, Kayla and Chad Dunn, Josh Autry, Hannah Brock, Ben Brock, Levi Brock, Sarah and Justin Pendergrass, Seth Brock, and Matthew Brock; his great grandchildren, Cayde Hollis, Abbey Griffin, Brady Connell, Jack Dunn, Mason Stone, Emma Griffin, Tripp Griffin, Caly Connell, Anna Dunn, Layla Hollis, Arthur Dunn, James Dunn and Madelyn Stone; his brother Donnie and Teressa Purvis; and his sister Faye and Bill Goff; and his special friend Marjorie Browning. He is preceded in death by his wife, Mary Jo Purvis; his daughter, Lawanna Brock; his brother Ernest Purvis; and his sister Audrey Sellars.

Leon loved to socialize and especially enjoyed making everyone laugh. At a young age, he dreamed of being a race car driver. He was a problem-solver who often tinkered with anything broken around the house. He was involved in many activities, including, sock making, crossword puzzles, and reading the newspaper.

He will be deeply missed by his friends, family, and all who knew him.

A private graveside service will be held Friday, May 15, 2020 at New River Holiness Church Cemetery with Brother Melvin Autry officiating.
