Matt Abbott

Mr. Matthew "Matt" Ronald Abbott, 40 of Adel passed away Thursday, March 18, 2021 at South Georgia Medical Center. Mr. Abbott was born October 13, 1980 in Adel. He worked with the City of Nashville, but was the Fire Chief of Central Cook County. Mr. Abbott was very instrumental in getting the fire department where it is today.

Survivors include his parents, Ronald and Vivian Abbott of Adel; son, Levi Abbott of Adel; daughter,Mattison Abbott of Adel; fiance, Kimberly Clanton of Adel; stepson, Brakston Roberson of Adel; stepdaughters, Sarah Clanton and Shelbie Clanton of Adel; mother of his children, Hannah Ray of Adel; brother, Tony (Amanda) of Tifton; sister, Alicia Abbott Durden of Moultrie; six nieces, and one nephew. Mr. Abbott was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, William and Johnnie Meads; and paternal grandparents, J.C. and Orlando Abbott.

A celebration of life will be held Wednesday, March 24, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at Purvis Funeral Home with Stevie Harrell and Chief Johnny West officiating. The family will be receiving friends this evening from 6-8 p.m. at Purvis Funeral Home.
