Michael Wills, Sr. Obituary

Michael Walden Wills, Sr., departed this life on January 2, 2023. Born August 1, 1957, he was the youngest son on Johnnie C. & Mary W. Wills who preceded him in death. The mother of his children, Patricia Jordan Wills, along with his in-laws, S. N. & Hilda Jordan also preceded him.

A graduate of Westbrook High School, he excelled in high school sports. His work career comprised working with Brooks County Packing & Sausage Company, Quitman, Georgia; Sunnyland Foods, Thomasville, Georgia; and in recent years as the owner of AGA transport, Quitman Georgia.

His life focused around his love of family. Surviving are his sons, Michael Walden Wills, Jr., and wife, Kim of Kingsport, Tennessee, and Ryan Jordan Wills, Quitman. Affectionately known as "Pa", grandchildren, Avery M. Wills, Fayetteville, North Carolina; Allison P. Wills, Adel, Georgia; and Gavin J. G. Wills, Kingsport, Tennessee, loved him dearly and also survive. He was very proud of his oldest grandson's role as a Combat Medic in the 82nd Airborne Division and looked forward with anticipation to the May 2023 university and high school graduations of his youngest two grandchildren, both of whom have achieved academic success in their fields of study.

An avid camper, his frequent trips to Walt Disney World celebrated family birthdays, Spring break and the beginning of Christmas holidays with youngest son, Ryan. His memorabilia collection was quite extensive from each of these trips. He had also rekindled an interest in the game of golf and enjoyed the comradery of local friends.

Mike is also survived by brothers, John M. Wills, (sister- in-law, Bess) of Huntsville, Alabama, and Don Wills of Quitman; nephews, J. Matthew Wills and family of Lexington, South Carolina, and J. Marcus Wills and family of Syracuse, New York.

Graveside services will be held Saturday, January 7, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. at Okapilco Baptist Church, 1565 Okapilco Church Road, Quitman, Georgia with Pastor Randy Mullinax officiating. The family will receive friends up to one hour prior to the service.
