Mr. John Howell, Jr., 72 of Sparks passed away Wednesday, May 3, 2017 at Tift Regional Medical Center.  Mr. Howell was born August 13, 1944 to the late John Ward Howell, Sr. and Mary Merlin Howell.  He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. 

Survivors include his wife, Linda Howell of Sparks;  children, David Howell, Jason Howell, Jonathan (Theba) Howell, Sam (Jaimee) Howell, Jessica Howell (Jayson Knowles), and Merlin (Royce) Payne; stepchildren, Corey Sumner, and Ginger (Charles) Moore; several grandchildren, and great grandchildren.  Mr. Howell was preceded in death by his two brothers, Randall Howell, and Tom Howell.

Funeral services will be held Friday, May 5, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at the First Assembly of God Church with Rev. Eric Gordon officiating.  Interment will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens.  The family will be receiving friends Thursday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Purvis Funeral Home.
